Shauna
Faith Interview
UrbanSouth:
Shauna Faith, how are you doing? It's a
pleasure having you affiliated with Urban
South and welcome to the South. New York
to Miami I see.....
Shauna Faith: Thank you
so much. I am loving Miami right now. I
'd rather have sun than snow. I have been
coming down to my new home every weekend.
I officially move down when school ends
this semester.
UrbanSouth: What have you
been up to lately (biz & personal)?
Shauna Faith: I have been
working on my body, toning up and going
to acting classes. I am working on my new
website release, www.ShaunaFaith.com,
coming early 2006, it will have video, new
photos, diaries, advice, everything you
can think of. I have tons of shoots lined
up for that.
UrbanSouth: For people
that don't know, you're not new to this
business. How long have you been modeling
and how did you get your start?
Shauna Faith: I have been
modeling seriously for about a year and
a half. However, I got my first spark experience
back in 2002 when I did a local fashion
show. I met a lot of people there and kept
in contact. I started college so I didnt
do much anymore until 2004 when I shot with
various photographers, recieved placements
in some print work, met with many agents,
and went to castings.
UrbanSouth: You've done
so much from print, runway, videos &
TV that I can't possibly tell you to name
them off (read above resume). We do want
to know which ones did you enjoy the most
and which ones have made greater impacts
on your modeling career?
Shauna Faith: The work
I have done all have a different stories.
But, my very first video I had lead was
the Nicole Wray "If I was your girlfriend",
was very interesting story. I was so scared
and kept wondering why they chose me. The
director, Darren Grant, gave me orders and
I would have 3 second delayed response.
He is still one of the best directors in
both movies and music videos. So, I was
a little star struck and very nervous. But,
in the end, I did my thing and got paid.
What I enjoyed most was shooting with Smooth
Girl Magazine, everything was perfect, the
make-up and styling. The most tiring included
the Yoki Sport Clothing line company. I
had to change into over 300 hundred outfits
within 6 hours.
UrbanSouth: Is modeling
full time in your life? (If no) Are you
planning to make it a full time career?
(If yes), How do aspiring models make the
transition to full time?
Shauna Faith: Modeling
right now is not full-time. I am not trying
to model all my life, but want to make that
transition in acting and continue more into
my music. I have been taking acting classes
and did a few films these past couple of
months. I have a very musical history where
I can play a couple of instruments including
piano, flute, and french horn. I want to
take that musical ability and produce, write,
and eventually compose.
UrbanSouth: What advice
can you give up & coming models on 'do's
& don'ts' and avoiding scams?
Shauna Faith: Don't pay
an agency for them to work with you. Go
out and network to get your name out there.
Test, test, test, and test some more. Photographers
test all the time, why should a model?
UrbanSouth: What are you
doing to keep your body toned and sexy?
Shauna Faith: Well, I am
almost there, trying to tone up better.
However, now I eat breakfast every morning,
run about 3 times a week, and make sure
I do at least 100 crunches a night.
UrbanSouth: Any upcoming
projects we should be looking out for?
Shauna Faith: "A Talent
for Trouble" should be realeased next
year. This is my first film starring many
known actors and actresses including Clifton
Powell, Mobb Deep, and Hassan from the Wire.
I am also the face of Crest Jeans this year
2005/06. I am working on my new website
release and calendar coming out early next
year.
UrbanSouth: For all men
that would like to know, are you on the
market?
Shauna Faith: Sorry, I
am not on the market.
UrbanSouth: What type of
man receives your attention? What's your
taste?
Shauna Faith: I love confident
men. I like men that are taller than me
as well, I am only 5'5. Smart, witty, and
knows what he wants do in his life.
UrbanSouth: What has been
the craziest line a man has ever given you?
Shauna Faith: A guy came
up to me and asked my name, and I told him
Shauna. He said why don't we name our 3rd
child Sherrel, cause my name is Terrel,
and with our names together, it would be
good. I said, "How do you think we
ever get to the first one?"
UrbanSouth: What does Shuana
Faith do for fun & past time?
Shauna Faith: Nowadays,
I don't have much free time, but I do go
out to movies and shop. I love eating and
I love sleeping. That's nothing special
but those are my favorites.
UrbanSouth: Paper or Plastic
(don't ask..lol)?
Shauna Faith: Plastic
UrbanSouth: When should
a model call it quits and try something
else?
Shauna Faith: Anyone can
model, from high fashion skinny models with
high cheek bones, to everyday people who
can be your neighbor. . If you serious about
modeling, if you really want to be a model,
go after your dream. The key word is serious.
If your not, then try something else. I
know when a model is serious when other
people try to put them down and they are
still go after the prize.
UrbanSouth: For people
looking to book you, what type of modeling
do you do?
Shuana Faith: I do everything,
but nudes. I prefer commercial, editorial,
and some glamour.
UrbanSouth: Any shout outs
and/or last words?
Shauna Faith: Joanna B.,
Crystal C., and lala: my bestfriends. Love
yall very much
