Bella Interview

Interview by: Edward "Pookie" Hall from Urban South

Bella, how are you doing?

Fine and you?

You're not originally from Louisiana. Rep. ya city....lol

I was born in Mound Bayou, MS and raised in Greenville, Mississippi.

What made you start modeling and how long have you been doing it?

Well, I have always wanted to but growing up I was a Tomboy and said modeling can wait. lol I got serious with modeling in 2005. I started in Hawaii in 2003 but I wasn't what they looking for so I started up a model promotional team until I came back to the states in 05'.

What was the name of your promo team and how many models did you have?

SCI-Southern Comfort Incorporated. We had 10 models on our team. Being stationed overseas, I wanted to bring a lil bit of home to them. Like Bikini/Lingerie Fashion show, Bikini Car wash, Beach parties, Pajama Jams, and Block Parties.

Wait a minute! You said you were in Hawaii until 2005. How did you end up there?

I requested that for my next duty station. I was there for 4 yrs. and Hawaii is a beautiful place.

You started from the bottom as a model. What did you do to get yourself to this point in the modeling industry and what are some road blocks that up & coming models have to go through?

I wanted to get some professional shots done i.e. Doss Tidwell (TX), Mic Fontaine (MS), Tashad Fowler (TX)- that was a big plus in getting started. Roadblocks- I would have to say being a PROFESSIONAL. Everyone that has a camera is not a photographer. Do your research is what I was told by a photographer. Which seems to be the truth!

I am a guy with a camera and I'm not a photographer. What are you implying because I recently took some pic's of you?

Lol. Now you are just be modest.Your work is nice for real (smile)

I know, I know. Just checking! LOL We recently did an interview with Mic Fontaine. What was your exp. like shooting with him. He has nice work.

Mic Fontaine & Mississippi stand up! that's hometown right there. Working with Mic and his team was great. Leondra Tap made me beautiful!lol and Mic capture it on film. That was shot in my hometown- Greenville, MS. Looking at the background of the pics, you would not believe it. There is beauty and talent in da Sipp.

Tell us about some of your good and bad experiences as an up & coming model.

Bad experience-A male photographer was shooting me at the beach; he was wearing a thong. Where I am from Men don't wear thong..lol!Lets just say my pics did not come close to right! Good experience-working with some great photographers, working with Most Wanted Films (Abel & Maddeson), Seagram's Gin 2007 model calendar search, and big up to you Pookie for giving me this opportunity.

Okay! I don't have any comments on your bad experience. On your good one though, just doing my job! What did you do with Most Wanted Films and is that Abel from 'Kane & Abel'?

Yeah, that's right! Abel of Kane and Abel who has a film company called Most Want Films. Abel cast me to be an extra in 2 films he had coming up. Look out for "The Rim Shop" and "Club Inferno".

How does someone book you? Also, what type of modeling do you do?

Book me by emailing me at: bella@urbansouth.us or bevva21@yahoo.com. My modeling interests are as follows: Print Work, Commercial, Music Videos, Runway, Promotional Campaigns, Celebrity Events, Movies, Films, TV Shows, Commercial Prints. Typically styles like: XXL, KING, Black's Men Magazine, SHAPE.

Video Shoot for artist KLC f/ Fiend

What's next for Bella?

I will be at the Music Conference in Dallas, TX this weekend. Hopefully, some more major magazine with my website coming soon. My goals are to be in a little of everything. I would love to be a successful model, actress, and overall business woman.

Are you single?

No! I am happily married.(1 yr)

You're in the army! In the army.... please explain this one

At first I just join to get out of Mississippi. In fact, my recruiter had to tell my mom I had join. lol Don't knock it. The military has taught me alot and there are opportunities. I wouldn't be right here without of course God's will for me along with the Military.

What's your rank?

Staff Sergeant!

How do men up under your rank deal with a sexy woman giving them orders. Should I be asking one of the men that? lol

I really don't care what they are thinking. lol I am bout the mission. So be professional. "Hooah!"

How do you balance being married with a family with modeling and again ....being in the army?

It's really hard but I always work it out. My Hubby is my support team and I am his support, you know. Don't have kids yet. Its been times where I probably have missed great opportunities due to my main career or spending time with my Hubby. Love you Chase!

You're the recent Jackson, MS winner of the Seagram's Gin 2007 model calendar search. 1st off, congrats! Of course Urban South was in the building at that event but tell the readers more about your experience with the event.

It was great to be in Mississippi because that is my home! The entire experience was great. I was so nervous, didn't know how the crowd would react to me (Dark-skinned sista). What the Game say, "Hate it, or Love it!" Again, it was very professional and a great opportunity and experience for me.

Because you're dark skinned, explain?

Whatever, don't act like you don't no. lol I love my complexion! Dark-skinned sistas don't get their justice and I think ift's mainly from my personal experiences. Once I joined the military and left da Sipp, brothas wouldn't step to me. It was only Spanish and white men. I love dark-skinned men but I got no love.

"That What That Is"! When and where will you be shooting for the calendar?

I will be shooting in Miami, Fl (my 2nd home) in August 2006. So to my brother Chris- get the guest room ready for lil sis. lol!!

Any last words. Technically Urban South's your home so we'll say 'Any Shout Outs'?

I would to thank Jehovah 'God' for everything. Chase, the Johnson Family (MS), and my good friends (you know who you are). Doss Tidwell, Mic Fontaine(MS stand up!), Tashad "7" Flower, Abel from Kane and Abel/Most Wanted Films, especially Pookie and the staff of Urbansouth.us, Janky John and my faithful members of my yahoo group. Aagin, thanks so much. How else do you know unless you try. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1BELLA/
